Very long hair. It is the first thing that people comment on. But, I am getting older and feel I need to look more my own age.

You know what? My husband used to say the same thing to me, "Don't cut your long hair, I love it!" But I Got it cut to about shoulder length with a side part With layers all throughout and he loved it! It's really a great modern versatile haircut,too. Hot rollers make it look great, sometimes I straighten it with a flat iron, sometimes I just blowdry with a round brush for lots of volume.I can still pull it up, or style it so I have side swept bangs, and the haircut works great on all ages. You should really try it!

If you feel it's time to cut it, cut it. Your mate should love you just the same. They are probly just afraid of change.

I cannot understand why any woman wants to cut her hair.It was intended for a woman to look like one,but in todays society very few things seperate men from women in looks.I think that you should be very happy to have a nice long head of hair and leave it alone.You are a woman and you should look like one.

You should do what will make you feel good about yourself. If your mate loves you, then your mate will love that you feel better about the way you look, but that doesn't mean the your mate needs to like it.

What does your long hair symbolise to you - if as you say it is youth then will you not feel older than your own age if you cut it ? I would so hope that you do not cut it for that reason AND as far as I know there are no age police out there making sure your hair is a certain length to go with a particular age :) however if you do eventually decide to cut your hair make sure you do it in stages and not "very long" to "way too short"

I just turned 50, one day I shared with my daughters that with my 50th approaching I felt like I needed a boost to launch me into the second 1/2 with sassy and style..I had waist length ash blonde hair. They teased me that I would never do it, They said but why did I have long hair if all I did was wear it up in a clip or pulled back, what good did it do?

So I took the challenge, went home cut off 20" and went to the drug store and bought a box of Auburn haircolor..well look at my pic..vavavavooom. The next day at church PEOPLE WENT NUTS!!! You would have thought I lost 100 lbs.. The bottom line is, will you always just wear your hair pulled back, couldn't you use alittle sassy in your life. But I will say before I bit the bullet and cut it off I got this program called the Cosmopolitan Make Over and it allows you to upload your picture and try 100 different hairstyles and colors before you take the plunge..there is another site call Hairstyles.com do that, show your husband how you'll look and then print out the picture, take it to a hairstylist and tell them boldly "I WANT THAT!!!"

its what you feel would make you feel good about you if you want to cut it then cut it you need to feel good about you and not only that it may get some weight off your soulders and neck long hair can make your head feel heavy

long hair does tend to add age. If you want a change, perhaps just cut it to your middle back (depending on how long it is) Make sure you are getting regular trims, it always makes long hair appear so much more healthy and elegant. I've seen super long hair that would be just gorgeous...with a trim...but it gets very scraggley without one....
